I believe that life itself is a lesson to encourage us to grow in love and self awareness. I use my time on my yoga mat to practice for life. I have learned a lot about myself by noticing how I approach, respond, resist, and settle into my yoga practice and believe that these same patterns show up in all aspects of our lives. Yoga has offered me the space to figure out what was most important to me and provided me with the tools to transform the way I felt, both on the inside and out. It is my intention to provide a safe and inclusive space for others to find their way back to themselves and to offer the tools they need to experience themselves differently than they are able to elsewhere.
I am relatable and warm and make others feel at home regardless of how much experience they have on their mats. I believe in whole hearted living, in getting comfortable with being uncomfortable, in growing and learning, in finding balance, in having gratitude, and in practicing peace as a state of mind. I have found that the more I practice these things on my mat, the more I am able to live them off my mat as well.
I enjoy reading, hiking, swimming, sunshine, sarcasm, yard games, and jumping on the trampoline with my kids.
I completed my first 200 hr training in 2015 at the Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness. It was a full immersive and we spent 100% of our time for three full weeks living every single aspect of our practice. It was a very well rounded training allowing me the opportunity to become well versed in mantra, meditation, asana, pranayama, and Ayurvedic principals. Yoga became much more than a movement practice. I will be forever grateful for the way I was able to grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally during that time.
I love learning new things and have a deep interest in not only how things work but why they work. This curiosity has propelled me to continue my studies in anatomy, functional movement, breath technique, meditation, grief, depression, anxiety, and the mind-body-breath connection.
I was introduced to Yoga Tune Up Therapy balls and the effects of using them changed the way I felt in my body. I trained in Seattle to be able to teach self myofascial release techniques using the therapy balls and I am currently one of only ten licensed Roll Model ® Method Practitioners in Western Canada.
2020 brought on a whole new set of skills. I completed a second 200 hr teacher training in the LYT™ method with Lara Heimann and have completely revolutionized my physical practice. My body has never felt stronger or moved better! Lara has an advanced degree in physical therapy and more than 25 years of yoga practice and education. Her LYT™ method is the most comprehensive anatomy based yoga training available and emphasizes smart alignment, functional movement, and more conscious movement patterns. I am thrilled to have a more thorough understanding of body mechanics and more knowledge to teach sustainable, freeing, and safe yoga for all bodies.
